Titanium and titanium alloy Ti6Al4V is a typical aerospace difficult-to-machine material. The wear of cemented carbide tools during the milling process will reduce the stability of the machining process, thereby affecting the machining efficiency and the surface quality of the machined surface. The wear of the rake face of the tool will reduce the strength of the cutting edge of the tool, and affect the flow and breaking of the chips. The wear mechanism of rake face was analyzed and a prediction model of crater wear depth was constructed.
First of all, an analytical method is used to construct a stress field model of the rake face, and the stress distribution and wear position of the tool rake face during the chip sliding process on the rake face are obtained. The temperature field model of the rake face is established based on the contact relationship between the tool and the chip.
Then, based on the obtained tool rake face stress and temperature distribution, a milling cutter crescent wear depth prediction model that comprehensively considers abrasive wear, bonding wear and diffusion wear is constructed to obtain a crescent wear prediction curve; combined with milling cutter crescent wear zone Based on the characteristics of the distribution along the cutting edge, a time-varying wear volume prediction model of the milling cutter rake face is established.
Finally, the experiment verifies the influence of cutting width on rake face wear, and the predicted results are in good agreement with the experimental measured values. The results show that as the cutting width increases, the wear depth of the crescent crater and the wear volume of the rake face increase. The research results of this paper provide a theoretical basis for the design of titanium alloy milling tools and the reasonable selection of cutting parameters.
